Police Department

The Shoals Town Marshal’s office, led by marshall, Matthew Copeland operates out of Shoals Town Hall at 221 Low Street, Shoals, IN 47581 (mailing address: PO Box 1078). The Marshal is responsible for law enforcement, public safety, and maintaining records of incidents within the town’s jurisdiction. Below are the procedures for filing police reports and accessing related public records. 

Filing a Police Report

  • Emergencies: Dial 911 for immediate assistance.

  • Non-Emergencies: Call or visit Town Hall during business hours (Mon–Fri, 8 AM–4 PM). If no answer, leave a voicemail with your name, contact info, and incident details.

What You’ll Need:

  • Date, time, and location of the incident

  • Description of the event

  • Names of people involved (if known)

Accessing Public Records

To request police reports or arrest records:

  • Phone: 812-247-2110

  • Mail: Send requests to PO Box 1078, Shoals, IN 47581

Include your name, contact info, details about the record, and preferred delivery method.

Note: Records are subject to Indiana's Access to Public Records Act. Some information may be redacted. Fees may apply.

  • The Marshal serves as Shoals' primary law enforcement officer, often assisted by the Martin County Sheriff’s Department.

  • Staff size is minimal, typical of small Indiana towns.
